2006 Mountaineer Premier
I am looking at buying a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer Premier with AWD and 4.6L V8. I test drove it and liked the pickup it had. I liked all of the creature comforts as well. The one thing I ( and more importantly, my wife ) didn't like is that when we folded down the second and third row seats there is a gap between the folded down seatbacks of aprox. 1-6 inches. We have a 2005 mountaineer that has the third row bech seats. When I fold down the two rows in ours, there is a sliding deck mounted the the back of the third row that I can push forward and cover the gap. on the '06 the third row of seats have individual seatbacks with no sliding cover. We got the '05 to transport our 3 boxers and I can't have a gap that they fall into and get injured. Does anyone know of a way to close that gap? Did I fold the seats down wrong? Any aftermarket products that would cover both folded down seats and the rear cargo area?
