2007 Sport Trac Tranny Problems

Anyone else having trouble with their 2007 Sport trac tranny ?? The shift from 1st to 2nd has a brutal clunk. I've had it back to the dealer three times. The 1st two times, they reprogrammed it, and both times it only lasted about a week or so. The last time they replaced some valve body. It lasted about 3 weeks. I'm getting extremely frustrated. I just want to know if others are having this problem.

I'm having a problem too, it seems to worse when it's cold and with the downshift. It just started about a week ago, I'm taking it the dealer tomorrow. I have the model that has a V8.

Re: 2007 Sport Trac Tranny Problems

I guess I should have mentioned that mine is a v8 6 speed automatic. It was one of the first of the second generation vehicles. I received it in early October and it started giving me trouble by early November. Let me know what your dealership comes up with.

UPDATE: I just got my Trac back from the dealer today. There's a new tsb out 07-03-08. So far, so good. I'll keep you updated.

Yes, please keep us posted on this TSB ("Transmission Service Bulletin"? ). I too have noticed less-than-ideal smoothness with the 5-speed automatic transmission on my otherwise excellent 2007 Sport Trac.

Thanks!

Re: 2007 Sport Trac Tranny Problems

I too also had this problem. My vehicle would clunk upon stopping or feel like a lurch forward when coming to a stop. I took mine in & the dealership reprogrammed the tranny control module. I've had no problems since having it fixed. Enquiring more info from the dealership they said " It only affects some batches of the vehicles transmissions." & this reprogramme greatly reduces the problem but does not get rid of it". Well my vehicle is fine from what I can tell now. The dealership knew what it was right away & also said they have had to reprogramme 4/5 in the past few weeks stating there was a update released for the problem recently. So hope this helps some people out.
