Exclamation 4X4 low!!!

my 98 explorer 4.0 OHV sport has 4X4 unfortunitly i got the switch my 4 wheel hight works just fine but when i needed to go into 4 low it would not engage anyone else have that probelm or no any ways to fix it

Did you read the owners manual? Familiarize yourself with how it's supposed to work. Here's the procedure:

You need to put the transmission in NEUTRAL and hold your foot on the brake. Then, select 4 LOW, and give it a couple seconds for the servo to shift the transfer case into low range.

If that doesn't work, then there's a fuse or a relay that's bad, or the servo motor itself needs replacing.

ya i gave it a long time to set into 4 i tried moving a littel to but it still just never set i can hear it trying to set maybe something is loose

Another thing to try before spending the money on sensors: Park the vehicle on a downgrade when you put the transmission in neutral, more the Xfer case to 4LO and let it roll slightly to engage (hopefully it does). Keep in mind that if it does engage, you'll have to repeat the procedure to get it to disengage from 4LO.

If you haven't replaced the Xfer case fluid in the last three years or 30K it'd be wise to do so, along with a visual inspection if the case allows.
