I've got a 1992 Explorer that I'm going to commence working on so I thought I'd get a thread started about it. Now whether it's a common issue or a phantom issue hopefully I can solve it and this thread then becomes useful data.

Problem: SUV just stopped running. Motor rolls over fine lights all work, but will not run.

*Replaced fuel pump with no resolution to the problem.

If it's turning over but wont start you will have to go back to basics first of all and see if you are getting a spark , fuel and compressions .

Previous owner replaced the fuel pump with an aftermarket pump. It only has 59,000 miles and ran great until one day it just quit and never ran again. I'm assuming the aftermarket pump isn't providing adiquit pressure to the fuel rail so that'll be where I begin my search. Any other advice from individuals with experience on the 1st generation explorer would be great! Thanks

Does it have fuel pressure? How about spark? Do you hear the pump run a few seconds everytime the key is turned to run?
