1995 Explorer XLT Automatic. As I go up through 1st gear I have to let off the gas in order for the transmission to shift into 2nd gear. Once I'm in 2nd gear everything is fine, transmission is smooth and it downshifts normal. There's no bucking or anything like that. Just in order for it to go in 2nd gear you must left off the gas, once it's in 2nd it goes fine from there. No other issues. Anyone have any ideas? I have told possibly a shift selinoid.

If the shift solenoid is fairly cheap and easy to replace, it would be worth a try. A car with this age, wouldn't hurt to do a fluid and filter change also.

I had a transmission flush done a week ago. That same garage told me it maybe the shift solenoid but they didn't specialize in transmission repairs, he told me he'd do some checking around but I don't wanna wait that long. I called Ford and priced a Shift Solenoid at $64.00, he made me an offer of $53.86. It's goin to Ford on Friday so I wanted to get an idea beforehand to see what other's thought and then compare to ford. Figured they only charged me $35 to have something checked out before so might as well have them check this out to. I know it's not the trans. itself going bad so they can stick any ideas of me being told it's that.
