confused 98 Explorer EB CV Joint

Hi, my front (AWD)cv joint is making a lot of noise as i drive and has a bit of play when i checked it with my hands on the shaft.(Stop snickering). Is this an easy fix for me or better left for the experts. My haynes manual isn't an exact match, so i'm not sure. Thanks for any savvy advice....

If you never attempted one before, take it to a shop. It's not too bad, but time consuming and some "knuckle-busting" may occur.
