98 Explorer moans - Ford Forums

I have a 98 Explorer Sport 4.0 OHV, whenever the ac is on and the truck is at idle speed And in gear I get a moaning sound from under the hood. If I put it in park to get out and check the noise it stops because the engine speeds up. This only happens when the ac is on. Any suggestions?

It's your A/C compressor. It's possible that it's low on freon, or your idle compensater need's adjusting.
