I just purchased a 98 Explorer and have a problem with the back light above the rear window always flickering when all lights are off. After all lights go off it stays bright just as if you have the lights or brake on and then all lights shut off, it goes deem and start flickering or flashing. When all light are on it doesn't do it, just when you turn off the vehicle. Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated. At first I though it might have something to do with the thief system, but it never goes out. Help! I believe it started when I used the entry keypad, could it be something to do with the anti-theft device?

Is this the interior (white light) or exterior (3rd brake light) light you're talking about?

Hey Dan, I just had the same problem and it happened about the same time my "auto-lock" feature stopped working. Check the your brake lights. It was the right one that was out for me. Hope this helps.
