I've got a 1998 UP Explorer (it's the bottom of the range pov pack base model - XT?) and no light comes on when any of the doors are opened. Now it has interior roof lights:




The front one the two lights turn on when the switches are turned on.




This rear light never comes on.

Any ideas? Should these lights automatically come on when doors are opened?

The doors clearly have sensors on them that are working to tell when the door is open as the light on the dash illuminates when a door is left open:

Dumb question, but have you checked to make sure the bulbs are burnt out?

As you can see in the photo, the lights turn on when I flick the switch on them (you can see in the photo that I have turned one on). So the two bulbs in the front interior light both work.
I havn't actually checked the rear cargo area light - but if the bulb is blown in that one, it still wouldn't explain why the front lights aren't coming on...

I had some success today. There was an issue with the rear cargo area light, that's been sorted and now that one automatically comes on with the doors opening, but the front light still doesn't...

Ok, sorry, on a work computer and didnt realize there were picts, sorry bout that. Glad you got the rear lights sorted out. For the front check fuses and bulb connections also.
