I need some serious help, my car originally broke about 6 months ago the problem was my car would not start I had power but my car would not do anything recently. I change the starter and the altenator and the ignition switch plus the solenoid now I can't get my alternator to charge my battery and also I put a new battery in, now my car won't do anything can someone help please.


The truck is a 1997 ford explore

Is the engine turning over ? Has it been lying for the 6 months ?

No it started when I put the new battery in and all the new stuff it ran for a day now it's back dead with all new parts on it

Test battery and if flat either charge or jump start . When running check alternator output with a meter .If not charging , check wiring / connection to alternator . If charging , check for drain on battery .

Also the starter won't disengage?

You are starting to lose me .You say " now it's back dead " and then " the starter won't disengage " Is the starter throwing over ? or is it stuck / jammed ?

No all of them are new parts the car ran Friday but that's because I put a brand new battery in it. I have 3 problems my stater won't disengage it's new, my alternator won't charge the new battery both are brand new and my car won't crank from the key it let me jump it from the solenoid but not the key and my switch and solenoid is brand new also.

Checked any ignition fuses ? or fuses in general ?

I don't see any broken fuses I don't know if they are dead I have to get a detector to see but I'm going do that tonite

Did you do these repairs yourself?? Was it the ignition lock you changed or the ignition switch? The starter won't disengage??? You mean engage?? Right?
