a/c running all the time?

Hi people!

I noticed that my a/c compressor clutch clicks on/off all the time. It's like 20 seconds on and 20 seconds off. I have the heater knob at half heat and blowing through the dash and floor vents.

I would not think the a/c needs to run when I have the heater on, this just sucks the gas.

Help!

Re: a/c running all the time?

Ford, unfortunately, hasn't yet caught up with the rest of the automotive world, which allows you to control when the A/C operates.

On Ford products, the A/C is operating in ALL the HVAC positions except heat (floor vents only) and vent (dash vents only). If you look at a wiring schematic, you'll see that all the other positions will run the A/C. The exception is when the outdoor temp is low enough to keep the A/C from operating.

Re: a/c running all the time?

Can I "fool" the temp sensor somehow to believe it's freezing all the time?

Re: a/c running all the time?

Thanks, I wondered why that was on mine, too!
Now I know.
