Hi,
I own a 1998 Explorer. The check engine light has been comiing on intermiddently and i finally took it to Ford to diagnose the problem. They said it is the cam shaft sensor and synchronizer. They want $800.00 to fix it. My question is, is this a fair price or are they trying to rip me off? and I know i need to get this fixed but is it ok to drive for the time being ir will it leaveme stranded on the road with a dead engine?

Over at Rockauto.com the part is $36 - seems like a lot of labor to me
