I have 2004 Explorer with the radio and single CD player built together. I am having problems with CDs not always ejecting. They play fine, but when I push the eject button, I get a "CD Error" message. Sometimes I can wait a few hours and then it will eject or I have waited as long as a couple weeks before I can it to eject. Does anyone have a clue what the problem is and how to get a CD out. I currently have a CD for a set of "Books on CD" borrowed from the library in the player that will not eject.

Just another annoyance to add to the list for my 04 Explorer. Thanks in advance.

1. Carefully slip something like a credit card in the slot on the top side of the CD amd press down slightly while trying to eject. or
2. Find the fuse to that circuit in the owner's manual fuse chart. Pull that fuse to de-energize that circuit. Wait a minute. Reinsert fuse - try ejecting again. or
3. After you get sick and tired of that routine, replace the lousy Ford unit with an aftermarkert from a place like Crutchfield.

P.S. Don;t let Ford tell you it's just a problem with the Recorded Book CDs - it isn't. The problem will get progressively worse.
