The Check Engine light does not go off in my 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 V6 SOHC. I recently failed an Emmissions Inspection. I was told the diagnostic code for the Check Engine light is P0455 - EVAP Emissions Control (Gross Leak). They tested my gas cap and that passed.
Can anyone help me determine where to look to solve this problem?
Check the Oxygen Sensors, and Air Sensors, Knock Sensors etc.. My Girlfriends Car had the same problem and it was just a faulty Sensor.

I'm having the same problem with my 97 model. I replaced the solenoid on the charcoal canister and the fuel vapor management contol valve as well as the gas cap with no success. Have you had any luck?
