cold/heat blower problem - Ford Forums

just got a 98 explorer Eddie Bauer edition and for the blower its either ALL (max) or nothing even if its just one notch down. is this a typical problem or what?

This is normally caused by the fan resistor going open circuit. Leaves the blower fan working on max speed only. You need to disconnect it and do a resistance check on it. cheers

Most likely the blower motor resistor. But also could be the fan switch. I'd bet on the resistor. I had the same deal. Was hoping it was just the switch but it wasn't.
