I just picked up a 2002 Explorer and am having poblems with the door ajar light coming on. I have checked all of the doors to make sure they were shut tight and the light still stays on but will turn of now and again. It seems whenever I use the hatch door is when the sensor is tripped. I also have a sun roof and am not sure it that could be a part of the problem. It is factory installed. I also get a double honk when I use the keyless button on my keychain to lock the doors.

The sun roof will not give you a door ajar problem. You probably have a bad sensor that does not know the door is shut. My Dad had a Ranger that did the same thing. Some of the sensors are built right into the latch.
