i have a 2001 ford explorer xlt that i recently did a motor swap on and ever since we did the swap the door ajar light stays on and now i have to remember to shut off the dome light before i lock the vehicle. i am at a loss on where to look to fix the issue. i have checked the fuses and they are all fine. i dont know where the door sensors are located. any help would be greatly appreciated!

On a lot of cars nowadays the door sensors are part of the lock assembly , but not sure on your car .

Try spraying WD40 in the door latches and see if that helps. The switches often get sticky and that helps.

thank you so much logan for the link to the step by step it helped me out alot!!!! i have finished taking all 5 panels off of the doors and back hatch and have checked all 7 sensors and none of them was busted or looked bad in any way so i guess i will have to make sure they are all tight then see what happens. if that still dont fix the issue i guess my next step will be replacing them one by one lol. i dont mind driving without door panels lol (did it when i was younger and redoing my stereo system in my car)

Spray the switches with WD 40 and the problem will more than likely go away.
