Driver door lock and handle sticking

2000 Explorer sport w/ power locks. We have to physically open the door from the inside because the electric locks wont open it from the outside, nor will the key unlock it from the outside. When pulling the latch from the inside, you can feel a friction or catch that makes it a little more difficult to release. It doesn't seem like an electrical issue, but what could be mechanically wrong with it?

Has anyone experienced this, any ideas? Any monetary guesses?

Ryan

My guess is the lock assembly is dirty --best way is to completely remove---clean--re-lube--install-think this will cure your problems---bob

Re: Driver door lock and handle sticking

Mine did this several months back- the spring to return the door handle to the down position broke. I had to jiggle the handle to get the keyless to bump up the lock. End result- bad door handle. Let's just say it is not fun drilling out the rivets and it takes a rivet gun the size of a pipe wrench to replace them! Hope this isn't it!
