Excessive whining from differential 03 Explorer

Component: POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT

EXCESSIVE WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL/DRIVE AXLES/DRIVESHAFT AREA OF THE VEHICLE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50 AND 60 M.P.H.
I'v read posts in other forums saying that ford is aware of the defect but will not issue a recall on the Differential until they find a fix. Thing is i'v had it since september of 03 its now july of 04 and still that darn whining. Anybody else have this problem.

Re: Excessive whining from differential 03 Explorer

I have not but no sense on not keeping on your dealership about it. If you have a good relationship with your dealer they may do it for you at no charge....of course that will vary from dealer to dealer.
I have not seen any further information on this in the ford Db, but that does not mean they wont issue something near the end of the life cycle of warranty for most.
