my Explorer was running fine - but did have engine light on stating "bank 1 O2 sensor heater circuit bad"; quit running suddenly - now won't start -won't fire at all; have fuel pressure/flow at injector rail test port & have spark at plug lead; replaced cam timing sensor but no change; even tried ether sprayed into intake manifold but engine still would not fire; any suggestions as to what to check or what to try next? would a bad O2 sensor keep the engine from running? Help Please!!!!

a bad O2 sensor would still allow you to run the engine. I'd get the crank position sensor tested and the O2 sensor replaced.

One thing you may be able to try, not that it will work but it's worth a try - disconnect the negative battery cable for as long as you can (overnight for example) and then reconnect in the morning to see if it resets the PCM. If it works you'll get at least one start out of it to get it into a reputable shop for a proper scan.

On Tuesday, my Explorer quit on my way home from xmas shopping. Your symptoms sound identical to mine. My issue was diagnosed as a broken timing chain. In the SOHC engine if the timing chain breaks while running the valves are likely trashed and a new "used" engine will be almost as cheap as rebuilding the heads and you'll get a warranty. Good Luck!
