explorer a/c clutch replacement - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi Folks,
Is it a big deal to replace the a/c clutch? Do you need any special tools? The compressor is fine, the clutch is n/g. All the auto parts stores sell the compressors with the clutches. No individual clutch. Does anyone have a source for the clutch only?

Never changed one on a ford but it shouldn't be too bad as long as you have room to work.

You will need a clutch plate removal tool.

You didn't state the year of your Explorer. Might try Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto

Looks like they have what I need. There's plenty of room to work, so that's not an issue. I'll just have to pickup or borrow the removal tool.
