Explorer Hesitating

I have a 98 explorer that if you accelerate hard from a stop (i.e. pulling out into traffic) it starts to move then sometimes there is a slight hesitation before it gets going. It could be very dangerous. Anyone got any ideas or have had this happen to them?

Re: Explorer Hesitating

Maybe throttle body is dirty or something like that which is hurting your throttle response. Maybe it could be the Throttle Position Sensor.

Re: Explorer Hesitating

i talked to my technician friend and he says they have had a few cases where the engine revs slightly and then the trans drops into gear.
he said the cause is the valve body gasket and he has replaced several of them recently.
