Explorer Sport Trac - Ford Forums

Looking for any information on the Explorer Sport Trac's. Basically I'm looking for anything you owners have noticed that seem to be consistent problems with the sport trac and any dealers out there who know of common issues with it. Seriously considering buying one but I've noticed as I've been looking they seem to be very hard to find around here. Was wondering if there was a reason for that.

Sport Trac is based off the Explorer model and seem to be a little more reliable. Older models only had some front bearing issues and factory lower ball joints are only good for about 40K. Otherwise, not too bad. I like the Sport Trac.

I'm also thinking of buying a Sportrac 4x4, looked at one at a local dealer, seen the engine , 4.0 V-6, was made in Germany and tranny was from France. Can anyone tell me any info about these items and anything else we should be aware of ??? Thanks alot Have a good day!!!!!
