Have anyones step up bars, on the side of the vehicle under the doors, rusted? And what did your dealer do about the problem?

I have a 99 sport. It has the gray painted stepups with the black molding where you step. I bought it used with 33k on it. They have been rusting since. This last year they have really rusted bad. I think I may look for another set from the junkyard and wait to put them on until I go to sell it again. As long as the rust doesn't spread to the body I'm not too concerned. I looks kind of bad but with maryland's salty highways, they will just rust again.
