Explorer won't start - ERROR P0232 - Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High

Huh?

2002 Eddie Bauer, 6 cylinder, auto, 4x4

Anyone know about this code? Two weeks ago the truck wouldn't start. I purchased a OBD2 teester, but it showed no code. Started next day, no signs of anything. Honestly I don't think I actualy ran the test properly.

Last night, same thing, truck won't start in Walmart pk lot. Wife brings OBD2 tester, I connected and ran the KOEO test, and hi there, a nice code for me:
P0232 FUEL PUMP SECONDARY CIRCUIT HIGH

Anyone know where the fuel pump secondary circuits are located?

I know the fuel pump is in the fuel tank. Does anyone know if this error code means it IS the fuel pump for sure? Is it some electronic controller (computer)? Is so, where the heck is that located? Could this code mean something else?

I have a friend that can help me replace the fuel pump - if that's it. The part is hard to find now, but I can wait a few days if needed. I just want to know before I have the truck towed to his house. I'd hate to take it there thinking it's a fuel pump only to find out it's something else.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Explorer won't start - ERROR P0232 - Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High

I know I posted short notice. I'm pulling the trigger on towing to friends house and getting a fuel pump. All the parts stores said nearly $300 for the pump and 6 days. My friend is getting it today for $200. I hope it's the pump!

P0232 means the fuel pump had power when it should have been off. That will trigger sometimes and not be a problem. It's more than likely the fuel pump. Clear the code and run the key on engine off test and see if it comes back. If not I wouldn't worry about it. Check for it later after running it for a few days and it see if it returns.

Update

Okay, it was the fuel pump.

I found a friend who did the fuel pump replacement for me at a fraction of the quotes from Ford and local auto repair stores. He even got a new part cheaper than anyone I could find. The mechanic also replaced the rear brake pads and adjusted the emergency brake. Before this service, the E-brake was pretty much useless. I drove it a few times a few years ago with the bleepin E-brake on and didn't notice it - until it was too late. Anyway, that is now fixed with these new rear pads.

I just drove the truck home and it ran fine. All seems well. I connected the OBD2 tester to the truck. I'm now getting these (2) codes:

The KOEO Test:
No codes

The KOER Test:
P1703 BRAKE SWITCH OUT OF SELF TEST RANGE

P1780 TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (O/D CANCEL) CIRCUIT OUT OF SELF TEST RANGE

Should I be concerned about these codes? I had the transmission repaired in Dec. 2008. Is error code P1780 related?

Also, is it possible the P1703 is showng because of the rear brake pad service I just had?

Thank you all for the help!

Both of those codes are because the brake pedal wasn't cycled during the self test, and the overdrive switch wasn't cycled during the self test. Run the test again and make sure both are applied during that part of the test. I'll bet the codes won't show up then.
