Explorer won't start no gas

It ran yesterday now it just cranks. I poured gas into the throttle body and it started for a minute. Apparently it's not getting gas. the fuel pump relay is clicking when I turn on the key. The fuel pump fuse is good. Any ideas?

Re: Explorer won't start no gas

I opened the fuel pressure diagonostic port while cranking and no fuel came out. The pump must not be working. Would the pump just stop working while sitting in the driveway?

Yes it's posible. The pump itself is fairly cheap. But taking the tank out to get to the pump is a pain in the as*. Just hope where the pump goes into the tank isn't all rusted to crap.

Re: Explorer won't start no gas

If there is no pressure and you do not hear the pump kicking on for a second or two when turning on the ignition, then the pump is the most likely cause.

Try whacking the bottom of the fuel tank with a non sparking object a few times and see if it comes back to life. Regardless, it will need replaced and like GJUSmackdown said...................

Re: Explorer won't start no gas

I had the same problem last week and was just resolved when I took a new Ford Mustang Fuel Pump for it. The replacement almost got me sick. So if you’d replace it, you should get the one with the best quality, like I did so as not to get over and over with the pain ( ) during replacement.

Re: Explorer won't start no gas

Thanks, you were right, it was the pump. I dropped the tank and replaced it. Actually I didn't think it was such a hard job. Of course you need some basic tools like a floor jack and quick connect release tool.

Anyway I replaced the whole pump module but , I forgot to put the filter sock on it so I guess I'll have to do it again sometime when I feel energetic.

That's another thing, we need to avoid forgetting. Anyways, I hope you get over it soon.
