1995 Explorer v8 5.0liter AWD. 150k. When you turn the key to start the car, one click the locks, lock and unlock, the lights come on and go off the car won't start all other electrical fine. It did start for a while when you took it out of park and put it in nuetral and stepped on the gas, now nothing. We have tried tapping the starter motor and nothing. Any help would be welcomed.

You say it worked for a while when you took it out of park and put it in nuetral. Probably the problem is in the park nuetral switch. This keeps the vehicle from starting in gear. The switch is probably worn out and needs to be replaced.
