Fuel Gauge stuck passed full mark

Happy New Year to all owners.
I have a 2002 Explorer Sport 4x4 with 200,000k on it and it has just recently been reading passed full on fuel gauge and it has been 3 days since I filled up. I recently went through a snow covered field to try the 4wd out and I wonder if a harness could have been knocked off in the snow.
My question is could a broken wire or loose harness cause the passed full reading or would it show empty?
Can a OBD2 scan show me something?
Where should I be looking first? Thanks
