I have a 2001 Explorer Sport and am pretty sure the fuel pump is going. When I look for a replacement it shows that there are one port and two port parts for my SUV. How can I tell without pulling the tank first? Does the VIN tell you?

Usually something like that is a midyear change. Used have an 87 F250, the VIN was right on the border of the change, ended up 3 times at the part place, the one we though, the one for the other half of the year, and the one for an 89 that apparently replaced the original gas tank. BTW, that's the sending unit, the actual in-line pump should be on the frame on the driver's side near the driver's door, if it's like the trucks.
