How to program key on Explorer UP?
I purchased through eBay a replacement key for my 1998 Ford UP Explorer XT 4.0L V6 OHV. Took it to a local lock smith and had it cut, but they were unable to program it because apparently it is a genuine key. Took it to another locksmith that specialises in the electronic vehicle keys and they tell me that they don't program the key, but the program, the car, and I would need to leave them with the car for an hour and they can sort it out, no dramas.
Anyone know if I can do this at home? I assume it's just a process of putting the car into some mode and then leaving it until the immobiliser times out and then it relearns (or something similar along these lines). Any ideas?
