this post is to get opinions on what methods you guy's have been using to modify your eec's, and what you have been able to adjust by using these different systems.

all and any coments are appreciated

Re: modifying the eec

I've just done a decent amount of research on this topic.

I'm going chiptorque due to thier ability to up my rev limiter and provide a custom tune.

If you already have plenty of rpm range (eg.6200rpm) then unichip is also a good option.

Most cheaper after market stand alones are less than perfectly compatable with our v8's. partly due to number of teeth on crank angle sensor or somthing. There are ways around this but as a couple of friends of mine and myself have learned. Try not to be the guinnea pig. mate with lancer turbo has same crank angle sensor problem coughs, spits and misses all over the place.

there are some good higher end ecu units out there. There a few peoople in here that can tell you about haltec, autronic and motec but the wallet cops a beating with these options.

Or some preffer to match up the right maf/injector combo to get what i call a close enough happy spot. The ford ecu can learn plenty enough to cope with mild to moderate mods well enough.

Thats a general feel of what i found out. hope it helps.

Re: modifying the eec

just getting the feeling of what ppl think/ are using on their cars to tune, at the moment i'm using twEECer which enables me to have a system as good as motec and the others at a fraction of the price, $800-$1200 depending on the us $$.

it enables me to reprogram the ford eec to the settings in which best suit my combo, ie rev limits, speed limits, spark, maf transfers, inj size, inj pulse widths ect....... the list goes on.

just a i said tryin to get a feel on what ppl thought of their choices in engine management and what they feel works for them

Re: modifying the eec

Well my new engine will be ready in about 4 weeks and after reading some threads here, surfing the net and talking to Bob at Sherry competition engines
(doing my heads) I'm put off the chips for the simple fact you dyno it and then set it for max power, I know its not quite the same but I dont want it to end up like the old school, big carb, big mechanical cam, goes like a cut snake but shit to drive in normal every day traffic.
So I would like to be able to tune it as needed, if I do further mods later etc. but don't really want to rewire the car to fit aftermarket, so I reckon I will go for a twEECer so I don't have any drama if I need/want to put it back to standard later.

Re: modifying the eec

thats the great thing about twEECer tou can tune the car as you go urself to get better drivabilty, and also the ability to turn it back to std without any hassle, hope you have as much succes with twEECer as what i have had, it's a great tuning tool

Re: modifying the eec

Thing with the AUs though is there is stuff all you can do without doing it electronically, not even the timing.

Re: modifying the eec

Yeah AUGhiaV8 your car has coilpacks and I believe the twEEcer is not compatible yet with that EEC.
