1998 Ford Explorer Radio Display stopped appearing consistently about 8 years ago. It comes and goes, but less so as time goes by. Everything else about the radio is fine, and the CD is fine. Any suggestions?

My '99 Taurus has had this problem for two years. Only solution is to replace the head unit. There's a circuit board in behind the face plate that's the culprit. I find if I push hard enough on the face plate the display will reappear for a few miles at least. I generally just listed to the same 6 CD's over the course of a month, so it doesn't really bother me anymore.

A radio repair shop may be able to fix it. I would call a repair shop,tell them what you have, and see if they can give you an idea on what it will cost.
