Paint Coating - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I bought my mountaineer about 4 mos. ago now and I love it, but the guy that sold it to me (owner of the mercury dealership in my town) told me that he had coated the paint with something to preserve it, which is why it still looks pretty new. However, I've noticed that there are spots where this coating is chipping/cracking/flaking off, it's not bad right now, but if there's a way to prevent it I would like to do that.

Please, if you know what I can do to keep my truck from looking crappy later on i'd appreciate it.

Simonize Paint Sealant Protector.

The dealership told me that they could reapply it on the paint job and on the leather seats for a price of 500 dollars. What do you think?

For $500 I'd get a good paste wax [mothers]and fix it myself--bob

Yeah, I wasn't really planning on paying for that. I am a poor college student, it's my senior year and I have a 6 mos. old baby to take care of. So how good is that Mother's stuff?

I bought some car wax [zymöl] a couple of mos. back and I didnt really like it. Heard of it?
