Exclamation poor gas milage on 04 V6

I am looking for a way to increase gas mileage on an 04 v6 explorer ....
This vehicle has 42 k on it...
original exhaust


please list what you know has worked for an increase in milage

What MPG are you getting now? There isn't a whole lot you can do to increase it substantially.

If you haven't already done so, bump your tire pressure up to 35 psi all the way around.

Drive like there's an egg between your foot and the pedal.

Other than that, there isn't much you can do.

You may be able to get a little better fuel economy and milage by using a more efficient induction system. K&N filter and Cold Air Induction kit may also give you more power. Essentially your engine is just and big air pump, getting the air in and out more efficiently will help. The simple things like tire pressure, cleaning your car out of any excess weight, driving easy, etc. are also recommended. I was always surprized of how the 6 and 8 cyl Explorers get pretty close highway mileage numbers. I'm lookingh for an 08 and it will be the 4.6L V8.
