2002 Explorer XLT. "Premium Sound system" with 6 CD changer (no cassette deck)- has had continuing problems with the CD transport mechanism since day one. Often had to use a credit card in CD slot to assist in ejection of CDs. Now CD changer finally quit altogether. Any recommendations for an after market replacement? Like something from Crutchfield? Brand? Of course it has odd dimensions in the dash and I don't want somethng that looks like it does not fit properly or with a big gap.
Thanks. Now how do I get the old unit out? I am familiar, from a prior vehicle radio replacement I did on another vehicle, with the DIN tool to insert in two pairs of holes on either side of the unit to unlock it from its chasis, but I don't see such holes on this one. Are they under that big surround piece that encloses the all the climate control stuff too? That plastic piece does not seem to want to come off easily and I don't want to force it.
