CAN ANYONE OFFER ADVICE ON SETTING THE TIMING FOR MY EXPLORER 1999 V6 SOHC, THE MECHINC AND I DON'T HAVE THE "TOOL" HE CHANGED THE TIMING CHAINS - 3 OF THEM BUT THE TIMING IS OFF - FOR TWO WEEKS HE IS TRYING AND MANGED ONE BANK BY TRAIL AND ERROR - HELP BUGSPRINT@YAHOO.COM

Ok. According to Alldata, it's useless to time the motor without the tools. Tell your mechanic to see his MAC Tools dealer about a MFC1100 kit. It's a Ford camshaft timing tools set. Looking at the tool list and illustrations on Alldata and the picture of the kit in the MAC catalog the kit has all the tools you need.

Well it turned out that with or without the tool can not be done because the Exhaust values were bent while installing new timing chains, sprokets, and tensions/guilds! He fitted new Exhaust values - Problem solved - it runs great. PS I did buy the tool but don't know if it helped him or not, chicken and egg....
