i have a 97 explorer and say im in 4wd low if i switch to 4wd high ill hear it disengauge and its good but if i switch from 4wd high to auto i hear nothing and dont feel anything but the ligh goes of on the dash.....
im about the change the transfer case motor (shift motor)
question is i should hear a noise when switching from 4wd high to auto correct?
You shouldn't hear or feel anything, unless you're turning a fairly sharp corner at the time.... then you'll feel a little "clunk" when the front prop shaft engages.
If you're traveling in a straight line, both prop shafts are turning at the same rate, so engaging or disengaging the front prop shaft is a non-issue.
ok i just went out and jacked up the truck and all 4 wheels are spinning so its stuck in 4wd but i can switch between 4wh and 4wl i just cant come out of that
any ideas anyone with a 97 explorer sport that can look at the order to the wires on the indash switch for me i want to compare make sure the four wires are pined in the right order
