ticking sound when fan is on

Hi, I have a '98 4.0 SOHC and it just developed a slight ticking sound when the air is on. It comes from behind the glove box and almost sounds like a piece of paper flapping against something, and it gets faster and higher pitched as I increase the fan velocity. I don't seem to be having any problems with the fan pushing air, and I drove over 3 hours straight today with it on and happening, which I figured if it was just a piece of paper it would have been dislodged by then. Is the fan maybe going out or off balance?

Sounds like a leaf worked its way in the heater box. Sometimes, moving the heat up and down, or the temp up and down will help work it loose.
