Go to any auto parts store, and get a trailer wiring kit for the appropriate vehicle.
In the case of your Explorer, you will remove the left taillight, separate the vehicle harness at a plug right by the taillight, and the trailer harness will fit between the male and female plugs you just separated. Thread the pigtail down below the taillight and across the frame to the hitch ball area; use zip ties to hold it in place, and you're done.
