I am looking at buying a used Explorer XLT on Ebay. Can someone tell me what model year the SOHC 4.0L engine was introduced on the XLT? I am looking at vehicles between the years 1998 and 2002.

Not sure when it was first available, but I had a '97. For that year, the pushrod motor was standard and the overhead cam was optional.

I think it was 95. It came with the smooth eyed rounded body version, I think as a part of Job 2.
