I recently bought a 1999 Explorer and the local dealer didn't give me the old keyless entry code for the driver door. I called two local Ford dealerships and they told me i would have to come in and they would have to reset the code for me. (costs between $40-$90) Needless to say, i'm not happy.... Does anyone know a way around that???

It is on the computer case. You can get to it above the driver side rear wheel well. Open the door to get to the jack and look for the grey box the code is on a sticker on the computer. You'll probably need a flashlight. You can use this master code to reprogram a new code if you wish.

I just checked my 2001 Explorer Sport in the same area - the jack is there along with the fuel filler hump but there is no Computer box up down or anywhere - where exactly in this compartment is it supposed be?

I bought the vehicle used and do not have the code for the keyless entry on the drivers door.

i have a 2001 sports trac where would find the code. i looked in the panel behind the rear seat on the drivers side but no computer.

Russ1960 and lolo if you can't find the box take to your local ford dealership and talk to the service writers. they can hook up a scan tool and access the security system and give you the code. They won't charge you a dime they would be happy to help.

Obviously not the same vehicle, but the code for my friend's 1999 Lincoln was on a sticker up under the trunk deck beneath the rear window.
