Wheel size change 16" to 17"

It's time to replace the tires on my 2004 Mountaineer and I thought it would be a good time to change the stock 16" wheels to a set of OEM 17" wheels to make it look a little better (assuming I can find a set for a reasonable price). What will I have to do after I change to the 17" wheels on the vehicle? I guess the speedometer will not be correct.

Re: Wheel size change 16" to 17"

The speedometer error will be negligible.... when you change from a 16" to a 17" wheel, you go with a lower aspect ratio tire, giving you nearly the same rolling radius.

Re: Wheel size change 16" to 17"

OK. I have 70 series tires on the 16" wheels (23570R16) so what would I need on the 17's? Maybe a 60 series?

Thanks for the reply

Go to: Discount Tire, Custom Wheels, Truck & Car Rims | Discount Tire Co. and select the tire comparison feature. It will also give you additional wheel sizes that will fit your vehicle.
