I jsut picked up a 96 Windstar, and the other day, at a hot idel, in gear, the oil light was flickering. Is there any common problems with this motor[3.8L] Anyone know where the OPS is on it? I looked everywere on the motor, and I dont see it. Any help? Thanks!

There is a good chance you have main bearing issues. That is what happened to mine.

How many miles were on yours? Mine has 90k on it.

I found you need to pull the motor to do the oil pump, so I am going to pull the pan and eyeball the bearings for now. Just hope its something simple. I REALY dont want to have to drop the motor!!

There were 73,000 miles. The problem resulted from the head gaskets that were a recall item for that year windstar. You might be able to get it done under warranty if the previous owner did not comply with the recall. Its worth a try good luck.

Well this has had the head gaskets changed allready. I am pulling the pan down now to check the bearings.

Well got the pan off this weekend. Bearings? What bearings? :( :(

Now to find out why. Wether the bad bearings caused the low PSI, or the other way around.
