Alternator Idler Belt Pulley - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

1993 PGT, 199k miles, runs great. Need new accessory belt idler pulley that mounts on the alternator bracket. Every Ford dealer I talk to tells me it is the YS201. This is incorrect. The YS201 is a flanged pulley. The one on my car (original equipment) does not have a flange and the flanged version will not work. No one can give me a part number for an unflanged pulley. There is no number stamped on the pulley. There are no aftermarket pulleys listed at auto parts stores. Another potential option (but ridiculously expensive) is to get the YS202 which is the pulley and mounting bracket all together. However, no one can tell me if that is flanged or not. Can someone who has replaced/worked on this item please help me? Thanks.

I have 2 spare engines I just broke down in parts. If you could e mail me a pic Ill see if I have it, which I prob. do.

I must apologize - I was given bad information. The person at the garage that told me the YS201 pulley would not work was absolutely incorrect. I broke down and took the car to the local Ford dealer. For $102.00 they installed the new pulley (which I bought at a Motorcraft warehouse - the same one from which the dealer buys their parts - saved about 40%. That didn't get rid of the noise, but they did notice at least one of the bolts on the bracket was missing, so they replaced it and no more noise! Just got back from a 1000+ mile trip and the car ran great. 200,500 miles now. Getting ready for a 700 miler this weekend.
