differences between 2.9 and 4.0 V6 cologne engine

Hello,

I've got a '76 ford granada coupe with a 2.6 V6 engine. In order to run on unleaded petrol, best option is to swap the engine for a more modern one.
I know that a 2.9 fits, but torque-wise I would like to go for the 4.0 (from a '97 explorer). Problem is that I hear different stories: One says that the engines are the same (enginemounts, coupling with transmission (A4LD) etc) so it should be easy. Others say that enginemounts are different, tranny does not match and other difficulties.

Can anybody help me?
