ok guys my forum is down right now so i decided to join this one. i had my probe taken away by my folks for 3 weeks and during that time they gave it to my sister up at her college. This is my first time in this forum so please help me out. Well it turns out that the oil needed changing and when i got it back i didnt notice it. Within about a good 1 1/2 hours of me driving it it started to tap really bad and before i knew it the car was jerking hard and when i pulled over white smoke came out and the car was broke down. It turns out, a rod broke. Well anywayz my friend's dad has a couple probe engines and i was wondering about swaping my engine for the 2.5 liter gt engine. Once again i have a 95 se mtx and i would really appreciate any info on the process of doing it. Thanks a lot in advance.

You have a 95 4 cyl engine...the gt engines differ from 93/94 and 95-97. The gt engine I believe will not work in a 4cyl engine. More sensors, more parts, connections are different. What yr engine were you thinking of dropping in?

well all my frined told me was that he knew a guy ( who is also friends w/ me ) that he had a few probes that they were gonna give away to a junk yard with good engines still in them. ( they are in the car busineess and are very rich so im sure they dont care about throwin a couple cars away) All i know about the probes is that they are gt's. Im gonna call later on today to find out more about them. thanx

Well, if you can get the whole car as a parts car, go for it.
You need to unbolt the motor mounts, and pull the engine & tranny as a whole.
Drop those in your car, change out the PCM & harnass, the speedometer & tachometer, the exhaust and probably the shifter linkage & driveshafts (not sure on those, though).

The linkage/driveshafts/exhaust should be easy since you'll have the whole engine out, the speedo & tach switch out as a unit, but the PCM may be a problem.
