Re: Ford / Jaguar V6???

I'm sure it uses a Jag V6 motor and not the duratec Ford V6 although the 2 engines may be from the same family and have added bits for Jag. The Duratec is used on the Euro Fords such as Mondeo/Contour.

Not positive though so maybe someone else will comment.

Thanks for your help anyway mate. I'm starting to think it's going to be a case of custom built one off huh.

Re: Ford / Jaguar V6???

Well I did a bit more research and it is looking more like it is based on the Duratec V6 but the trouble is Ford puts the name Duratec on a whole heap of engines around the world that are unrelated to each other apart from being Ford. I'm thinking with the X-type that it is the Euro Duratec V6 from the Mondeo that is used which is different to the Mustang engine.

Re: Ford / Jaguar V6???

If you have an X-type 3.0 It is a Duratec V6. It is the same block as the escape, taurus duratec, North American fusion, and mazda 6/Atenza. It has a VVT head similar to that used on the 6/Atenza and Fusion. The intake manifold is heavily modified by Jaguar. It shares virtually every other part with the 6/Atenza engine.

If it is the 2.5 then it is virtually identical to the 2.5 Duratec used in the Mondeo/Contour/Cougar/Puma.

There was a supercharger made for the 2.5L Duratec in the SVT Contour, but it went out of production in around 2003 and very few units were built as it cost over $5000 USD.

Re: Ford / Jaguar V6???

Thanks very much for the info. That's a great help. Yer, it's the 3lt and I'd say that with it also being used in so many other cars there's a good chance that someone out there makes a supercharger kit for it. I guess the only concern would be just how much Jag did change the inlet manifold and what effect that would have on any kits available for other models. Thanks again for the help guys, I'll let you know how I go.
Cheers
