biggrin How good a Duratec V6 can sound (video with sound)

For any Aussie Cougar / Mondeo ST24 owners out there I'd thought I'd post an in cabin video of my ST24.

The car was in second gear, with all the windows up, going up a very steep hill. The air filter has been replaced with a K&N pod style filter, the rear LHS muffler has been removed, and the throttle body butterfly centre support has been filed down to half it's normal width for increased air flow.

Go to the link in my signature for more details of the modifications.

Thought you might like it. It turns a few heads when I floor it- most people associate Mondeos with four cylinder engines- the last thing they expect is to hear that!

Very nice indeed! It is a great sounding V6 unit, and there aren't many of them!

It reminds me of my BFYB 2000 video, where the Mondeo ST24 got a run.. they had the in-car camera of it going around Phillip Island, and it caught my attention with it's note. Dare I say it, the best V6 note I have heard!

Yep - although I think you can get it now on the net through carpoint.ninemsn.com.au and the like. Not sure if they have old stocks of previous years, but worth asking!

I will have to listen to your video when i get home. But i have to say the 3.0L Duratec in the Jaguar S Type sounds very very nice indeed, raspy yet theres a distinct note as the revs are applyed and it's not too loud which i like.

The X type has actually got the same 2.5l Duratec with a different head. The S type is the same as the Taurus, Mazda MPV, Mazda Tribute (and the Ford clone?)- the Duratecs are pretty common.

There's a kit car called a Noble M12 GTO that has a twin turbo version of the Duratec 2.5l fitted to it- that would be nice..... There's a movie of it here (plus lots of other good movies):
