i have a 92 probe with a 3.0 and wanted to know what i can do to make it quicker i race it on a circle track and only use 1st and 2nd gear. it has to be factory. i was told to gut the air conditioner and power steering will that make a difference. it has to be automatic

Just an FYI the 3.0 is the Ford Vulcan V-6, not a Mazda motor. But, the other Probe engines are Mazda. If Vulcan Power sees this post he maybe able to give you some ideas on what to do.

Vulcan Power

Well if it has to stay factory you'll have to do things like gut it out, emmisions removed, power steering removed, A/C removed, carpet, all interior panels, glass replaced with lexan if you can, etc etc. Should be able to drop at least a 100 lbs - it will help your cornering and be easier on your tires as well. Also, good sticky tires would help alot. Advance your timing a tad (if they allow that), and run a higher octane fuel. Too bad you can't do any modifications, that sucks. What have you done so far?

The interior is gutted out the only thing I have is the driver seat. The only window I can have is the front windshield. I got a straight pipe running from the down pipe we gotta keep factory manifolds no headers, but I was told to put a muffler on it and it will give me more power. I gotta keep the power steering and a/c on the car but if I can gut them out I was told it would help.
