Project 3.0
ok guys i know that i will be using some form of forced induction on my probe, the dillema i have is which way to go Supercharger, or turbo
i like the supercharger cause there its a kit already, also i know i can have a centrifugal supercharger in my car using a driveshaft the hood would not need to be modified and would be easier to remove when i have to go get a smog check every 2 years
as for the turbo i would love to have that in my probe but the thing that its bugging me its the piping i know i could route the pipes from behind the engine and then have them run over the tranny to where the battery is at now, which is the only area on the engine bay that has enough space to place the turbo, what concerns me its the heat that the pipes will be emitting to the tranny and the wiring and fuel lines, but here its the thing, im thinking about using heat shields and the jacket thingies that insulate the headers and pipes to block the massive heat this setup will produce also im thinking of making holes in the hood (kinda like the ones on the supra on F&F) and a RX7 hood scoop to help cool down the engine bay and help the heat dissipate faster, also i would be using a tranny cooler and oil cooler for both the tranny and the engine so that way they dont overheat.
also this setup would only require me to remove the turbo and install a u shaped pipe every time i go get a smog check
i like the supercharger cause its easy to setup
i like the turbo cause it makes more power
any opinions on this would be GREATLY appreciated
